Unsatisfied w/ Drenched Boots
The boots that were purchased arrived soak & wet. Call customer service - Didn't hear anything back from them. Very disappointed!
horrible!
What did i buy these shoes for? rebellion, freedom, creativity, purpose! Okay maybe not. I actually bought them because I've owned a hand-me-down pair of DMs for years (they're the only shoes I own!) and when I finally decide to get a new pair, I order these. They're made in CHINA, not in ENGLAND like real DMs should be! it's not like that's what makes them horrible, but it does lessen their appeal. They're made horribly and cheaply and out of some nasty leather-like plastic and they fit like a nightmare! these are not the doc martens of the revolutionaries and individuals, these are the ugly cheap sell-out doc martens. They feel horrible, look horrible, and are very obviously made of cheap materials.
Awesome. But be ready for what you are getting yourself into.
I've had my pair since 2003. They were the last of the UK made ones. Originally I was going to replace my old 1460's with side zip military jump boots due to modern conveniences such as traction and sneaker-like comfort. So instead, I found these bad-boys on sale and picked them up. Nicely weather resistant, they are more comfortable now than when they were when I got them. They are really a two-season boot but I mostly wear them in the winter. The tall shaft can make you really hot so I only lace them halfway or 3/4 the way unless I'm shoveling snow. For winter, I suggest thick socks. For anytime, insoles are recommended unless you have flat feet. The stock air-soles do a decent job of cushioning. They are not that heavy as I've had to sprint unexpectedly in them once and they served me well. The soles tend to get a bit traction-less at times, but nothing beats the style of the 14i's classic pattern. The thicker hiker soles look dumb to me. If you find a UK pair, the leather is a bit softer but the soles are stiffer than a Chinese made pair (I also have a 10i steel toe original style) so you take some and lose some. I also recommend shedding the crappy-as-always Dr Marten laces for flat sneaker laces for a better fit and mink oil to preserve the leather.
